Deli Vita FAQs

Can I use my Deli Vita oven all year round?

Absolutely – there are no set times as to when you should cook with wood-burning ovens.

What accessories do i need to get started with my Delivita oven?

These are the accessories you can buy along with your pizza oven.

  • pizza peel (to get the pizzas/food in/out of the oven).
  • pizza cutter (essential for cutting pizza).
  • the axe (useful for cutting kindling).
  • all weather cover (essential if you leave your oven out all year round and to keep it dry in the rain).
  • oven brush (a useful tool to help you position the logs and to keep the oven floor clean).

How do I clean the stainless steel frontage?

For a perfect finish and to avoid damage to the stainless steel finish, just use baby oil or stainless steel cleaner using lint-free cotton cloth.

How long does it take to cook a pizza?

Depending on the temperature of the oven, between 60-90 seconds.

How do you not burn the pizza?

To make the perfect pizza, you should keep turning the pizza away from the flames every 10-12 seconds, allowing a full rotation of the pizza.

TOP TIP – after each pizza, scrub the oven floor with the steel brush to remove any burnt remains of the excess flour/semolina from the pizza base.

How do I stop my pizza base from going black/burning?

There can be two reasons for this:

  • The oven is too hot; don’t use more than 3 logs of 8-10cm wide and 22-26cm.
  • There may be surplus flour/semolina remains on the oven floor. scrub the oven floor with a steel brush to remove the surplus flour.

How do I clean the outside of my Delivita oven?

For a perfect finish and to avoid damage, just use a damp cloth with soapy water.

If there are deep scratches, you can use wet & dry cloth or t-cut from your local car accessory store.

How much does a Delivita oven weigh?

A Delivita oven weighs 30kg. We have designed the ovens with handles for easy manoeuvrability.

Where are Delivita ovens made?

Delivita ovens and stands are made in Yorkshire.

Can I position the Delivita oven indoors or inside my garage?

No, the oven must never be positioned in an enclosed area because the smoke and fumes must be allowed to escape properly.

Why is my pizza sticking to the oven floor?

Remember to sprinkle flour onto your pizza peel and make sure your preparation area is floured well.

Don’t wait too long to cook after adding your topping to the dough as it could start to soak it up and become sticky.

Make sure you don’t have any holes or thin spots in your pizza base as these can allow moisture to penetrate and cause sticking.

Why am I getting lots of black smoke?

Make sure you are using properly seasoned hardwood, ideally with a moisture content of less than 15%. This type of wood burns hotter for longer periods and produces very little smoke and ash.

Can I use normal firelighters to light my Delivita oven?

No, all fire lighters should be free from kerosene or other additives that may soak into the floor of the oven and, in turn, taint the taste of your food. please use eco lighters.

How long will it take the Delivita oven to heat up before i can cook a pizza?

The oven should take about 25-30 minutes to heat up to pizza-making temperature. the size and length of the fire will determine the temperature of the oven.

The oven is at its optimum when all of the black carbon has burned off.

How can i tell what temperature my Delivita oven is operating at?

You can simply use an infrared thermometer gun. When used in free stand, position it in the mouth 10-15cm from the front of the oven, not inside the oven. Once you have used the oven and experimented with it, you will get a “feel” for the temperature.

Are Delivita ovens only good for cooking pizza? Can I cook meats and fish directly on the oven floor?

We recommend that meat and fish or any dish that will produce fat or liquid from cooking should be placed in a container to avoid tainting the oven floor.

Is the Delivita oven frost-proof?

Yes, if the Delivita cover is being used, the cover has been tested by the manufacturer to be frost-proof at -12°c.

Is the Delivita oven weather-proof?

It is important that you use the Delivita cover. The oven has been manufactured to be showerproof, however, persistent wetting will affect the oven and moisture will be absorbed.

If my Delivita oven is wet, will it still be okay to use?

if you haven’t used it for a couple of months or the weather has been persistently wet, it might be a good idea to light a small fire 3 to 4 hours before you want to start cooking to “cure” your oven again.

Where can i place my Delivita oven?

The Delivita oven has been specially designed to allow you to place it on any hard surface other than plastic and glass tables.

Mila FAQs

Are the ovens wood fired only or can you use gas?

Mila Wood Fired Ovens may be used wood only.

What are the ovens made from?

Mila Wood Fired Ovens are made from the finest quality refractory materials able to withstand the highest temperatures. The cooking floor is made from 100% cast refractory concrete. The cooking floor contains a high content of alumina, perfectly smoothed which gives the ovens two very important features; total lack of foreign smells & tastes, perfect cooking of pizzas, baked dishes & an array of different foods.

Will the oven be able to withstand rain, wind, direct sunlight (or the environment)?

Mila Wood Fired Ovens are manufactured from the highest quality materials, built to last forever, and so long as the oven is installed correctly, Mila Wood Fired Ovens will withstand the elements. With its state of the art fibreglass shell, this makes it 100% weather and UV resistant.

How long do the ovens last? How much warranty?

Mila Wood Fired Ovens come with a manufacturer’s warranty of 10 years. All refractory parts are covered in this warranty.

Where are your ovens made?

Mila Wood Fired Ovens are made by hand at our manufacturing plant in Leicestershire.

I have seen ovens that are not a dome – do I need a dome shaped oven?

To achieve the best cooking results you do need a dome-shaped oven. In a dome-shaped oven, the flame rolls around the roof, creating the perfect amount of radiant heat. When other shapes are used, it compromises the cooking process and is not as effective.

Do I need to cure the oven?

Yes, because our ovens are cast with refractory concrete, water is added to the mix to form a dense solid dome. This then needs to be cured over a series of days to draw all moisture from the concrete. This will stop the oven from cracking and will give you a much better performance for your oven. (please see curing page)

What can I build my oven on?

A variety of surfaces can be used to build your oven on, natural stone, concrete and also metal are sufficient. We do not recommend building your oven directly onto wood or anything else with a low resistant to heat.

How heavy is the oven? Will I need assistance when it is delivered?

The weight of the mila 60 pre-built is approx. 186kg. This will need 4-5 people to lift or a special lifting aid. The kit has been designed for each section to be easily lifted by one person.

How are the ovens installed? Do you need a professional?

Mila Wood Fired Ovens can easily be installed by a handyperson as full installation instructions are supplied. Depending on the scope of the project a builder/bricklayer may be required.

Is a base required?

Yes, due to the sheer weight of the ovens, the ovens must be supported by a base. Brick bases are most common and stands are also available for all our mila woodfired oven models.

Can I move my oven once it is built?

Yes, this will just involve disassembling the oven and rebuilding in your new place. You may need to purchase more fire cement etc.

What is the best height for my oven?

The best working height for your oven is 1.2m from the ground to the opening of the oven.

Do the ovens require regular cleaning?

There is very little maintenance involved when cooking with a Mila Wood Fired Oven. Cleaning of ashes is required occasionally. At no time should water be used to clean inside the oven. The fibreglass shell is very low maintenance and can be wiped clean using warm soapy water or even products like window lean.

Do I need to cure the oven?

Yes, all Mila Wood Fired Ovens need curing before use. We recommend you let your oven sit for 5-7 days after you have completed building it. If the oven has a rendered finish, ensure render is completely dry before curing. Over the next 5 days, starting with a low temperature of approx. 100oC and increasing this by 50oC each day up to 500oC, build a fire and sustain it for the day. Try to maintain the temperature as you do not want a high temperature fire straight away, the best way to check the temperature is with a stand alone air or an infrared thermometer.

What type of wood is required?

We recommend using Kiln dried hardwood. Also you can use aromatic wood such as hickory, mesquite or apple wood. It is important not to use treated wood or wood that has a moisture content of more than 20%.

How much wood can I expect to use?

This will of course depend on how long you intend to use the oven. 5-7 pieces of wood should be ample to cook around 50 pizza’s. To be safe, always have plenty of wood on standby.

How long does it take to cook a pizza?

It only takes 60-90 seconds to cook a delicious pizza in a Mila Wood Fired Oven as long as the oven is at the correct temperature.

How does the oven maintain its heat?

A high grade insulation is wrapped around the woodfired oven, assisting with heat retention – the inside of your oven will still be warm the following day.

What other foods can be cooked in a wood fired pizza oven?

It is possible to cook a variety of foods – not just pizza, such as; poultry, bread, vegetables, roasts, stews, desserts.

How long does it take for the oven to reach cooking temperature?

Typically, your Mila Wood Fired Oven will take 30-40 minutes to heat up to cooking temperature.

How can I tell if the oven is hot enough?

The roof of the oven should be ‘white’, all the soot should have burnt away. You can also use a temperature gauge. We recommend using a temperature gauge or digital thermometer.

Can I cook on the oven floor or do I need special trays?

Mila Wood Fired Ovens are perfect for cooking pizza on the oven floor. Of course when cooking a dish that has natural juices (such as a roast) a tray should be used to ensure all those delicious flavours are kept and to avoid a mess!

Is the oven safe to touch when in use?

Mila Wood Fired Ovens are supplied with high grade ceramic fibre insulation. Providing the oven has been installed correctly, the external shell on a Mila Wood Fired Oven will be safe to touch when the oven is in use.

Do I need to cook with the door off/open?

Depending upon what you are cooking eg. pizza, it is recommended to cook with the door open. If roasting or baking bread it is recommended the door be closed. The fire requires oxygen to continue to burn effectively. The oven has also been designed so the door can be placed behind the flue for more retained heat.

King Edward FAQs

Why use a Potato Baker ?

If you have ever seen our bakers on a stand at an exhibition or in the coffee shops of the many businesses who use them you will understand why you should use a potato baker.  They instantly draw the attention of the customer looking to see what food is on offer and by doing so will often upgrade a sale from just a drink to a meal.

Our baker will become your silent salesman.  It will cook, store and promote the sale of baked potatoes at your venue and only requires a 13 amp socket.  Your customers know you care about the food you serve, they can see the potatoes are not microwaved and they can often choose their topping fresh from your servery.

How to prepare potatoes for baking ?

Washed and graded potatoes need no preparation.  However, if you rub the raw potatoes in cooking oil and a little salt before baking the skins will be extra tasty.  Pricking the potato skin before cooking may help prevent a cooked potato from "exploding."

How long it would take to bake potatoes ?

In our ovens a  typical 8/10 oz (226/283 gm) potato should be cooked for approximately one hour. If the potatoes are larger than this add more time, the longer a potato is cooked, the thicker the jacket becomes.

Are Baked Potatoes good for us ?

Yes, baked potatoes are nutritional (especially the skins) and provide a good source of fibre.   They also contain more potassium per gram than a banana.  The typical values of a raw main crop potato such as a Maris Piper, King Edward, Desiree and Cara have the following nutritional values:

Energy

Water

Protein

Carbohydrate

Fibre

Vitamin C

75kcal

79g

2.1g

17.2g

1.6g

11mg

Perhaps more importantly baked potatoes are Gluten free, which makes them a very useful addition to your menu.

Should i offer hot fillings as well as cold ?

Hot toppings such as baked beans, chilli and curries are all popular fillings for jacket potatoes and are easy to keep warm.  Our Compact and Compact Lite models have integral bain marie units specifically for hot toppings.  Alternatively we have a range of Prestige and Classic bain maries in colours and designs to match your King Edward potato baker.

Remember that while a Bain Marie will keep fillings hot it will not cook them from cold. The fillings need to be brought up to the right temperature before putting them in the Bain Marie.

Do i need extra ventilation when i install my baker?

Not really, although having extraction or ventilation nearby will of course take care of any steam the baker produces.  If the baker is going to be situated in a normally ventilated room there shouldn't be a problem, and you won't need any specific ventilation.

If the baker has a steam vent and you can site it under an extraction unit then we recommend that there is at least 300mm (c 12") free space above it.

How do i make the best use of oven capacity ?

If budget will allow, always buy the largest capacity baker that you can, the difference in price, footprint and running costs is very little between the two sizes and you can always utilise any unused oven capacity for something else.

Get your first batch of potatoes in and cooking in plenty of time.  If you need to serve from 11.30am for example, have the first batch cooked and in the display oven for 10.45am.   Put the second batch in to bake and by the time the display oven is empty the next batch will be ready.  Once baked and on display, we recommend that you serve the potatoes within 1.5 hours of cooking.  Any potatoes not used can be refrigerated, sliced and sprinkled with oil and paprika and baked for 10mins to make tasty wedges or you can use the flesh to thicken soups or stews.

Counter top or Back bar, what's the difference ?

When we say suitable for counter top or back bar we mean you can site the baker "counter top" - between the customer and the server where it can be seen from all sides or "back bar" where it will sit behind the server (usually against a wall) and can only be seen from the oven door side.

We like to give you choices, our bakers can be used either back bar or counter top as we make sure your purchase looks as good as it can from all sides.   We also make sure that cooked potatoes in storage can be seen by you and your customers wherever the baker is sited

Will the baker be hot to touch ?

As the inside of the oven can operate up to 250°C there is a clear potential for the outside of the baker to get hot to the touch.  King Edward ovens use convection to move hot air around the oven cavity, this is a more efficient means of cooking and requires less input from the element which reduces heat transference to the outer casing. Common sense should prevail when you site your baker and all staff using the oven should of course use an oven glove or gauntlet as you would with any other hot equipment.

If you are placing your baker counter top with potential for the public to touch it then the simple fitting of a low glass or perspex sneeze screen along the counter edge could be a consideration.  A sneeze screen may also serve you well if you have other equipment or foodstuffs you would like protected.

Why is a Convection oven better ?

We developed our own convection oven many years ago and use it throughout our range.   A lot of time and attention to detail was expended getting the airflow and heat intput just right and now we have bakers that are extremely efficient at cooking evenly throughout the oven chamber.

Convection ovens are recognised the World over as more efficient than "static" heating methods.   Hot air is circulated around the oven chamber preventing hot spots and over or under cooking, you don't need to move potatoes around in our ovens and thanks to their controllability, you can also cook other foodstuffs as well.

Elementi FAQs

What type of gas/fuel should we get?

Elementi Firepits runs mainly with LPG Gas, but there are two types of fuel you can use:

  • Natural/Mains Gas:  This is the best option if you already have a natural gas connection in your home. The firepit will be supplied together with a gas conversion kit. All you need to do is have a professional or a knowledgeable gas installer attach a line from your house to the fire pit and install the conversion kit.
  • Propane Bottle: This is your option if you don't have a mains gas line installed in your home. You can use a 20lb propane tank that you use in your gas grills.

Can we use the firepit inside the house?

No, all of the fire pits and fire table must be used ONLY outdoors in a well-ventilated space and shall NOT be used inside a building, garage, or any other enclosed area.

Can we put firewoods in the firepits?

Never. Do no burn solid fuels such as wood, charcoal briquettes, lump charcoal, manufactured logs, driftwood, trash, leaves, paper, cardboard, plywood, painted or stained or pressure-treated wood in the outdoor fire tables.

Where to store the liquid propane gas?

  • Never store your LP gas tank where temperatures can reach over 125°F.
  • Do not store the LP gas cylinder in direct sunlight or near a source of heat or combustion.
  • Never keep a filled LP gas tank in a hot car or car trunk. Heat will cause the gas pressure to increase, which may open the relief valve and allow gas to escape.

How to light the firepit?

Using the Ignitor

1. Read instructions before lighting.
2. Control knob must be in the “OFF” position.
3. Connect propane cylinder, slowly open the valve on LP gas cylinder.
4. Push and hold the igniter button to create sparks.
5. While holding the igniter button with one hand, use your other hand to push and turn the control knob to the “LOW” position to light the burner.
6. If ignition does not occur in 5 seconds, push and turn the Control Knob to “OFF”, wait 5 minutes and allow gas to dissipate.
7. Once the burner is lit, continue to hold the knob in for another 20 seconds and release.
8. Observe flame, make sure all burner ports are lit. Flame height should be no higher than 13 inches tall.
9. Adjust flame to the desired flame with the control knob

Using a Long Match or a Lighter:

1. Prior to lighting, use a shovel to move lava rocks for access to the burner.
2. Wearing heat resistant gloves, position the burning long match or burning butane lighter near the side of the burner. DO NOT lean over the fire table while lighting!
3. Turn the control knob counterclockwise to “LOW”.
4. Remove long match/long butane lighter.
5. After lighting, use a shovel and heat resistant gloves to carefully move the lava rocks back into their proper position.
6. Observe flame, make sure all burner ports are lit. Flame height should be no higher than 13 inches tall.
7. Adjust the flame to the desired height with the control knob

How to clean the firepit?

We recommend that you should clean your firepit regularly to ensure safe use and extend product life.

Table
1. Wipe exterior surfaces with mild dishwashing soap or baking soda, then rinse clean with water.

Stainless Steel
1. For general cleaning use warm water, soap, ammonia, or detergent apply with a soft cloth or sponge
2. For fingerprints or smears use 3M Stainless Steel Cleaner and Polish, this will provide a barrier film to minimize fingerprints.
3. While using in salt air environments we recommend cleaning all stainless steel surfaces at least every two weeks to keep the item in prime condition. 4. Stainless steel is corrosion-resistant but is not impervious to rust.
5. Exposure to salt air and sea spray will cause surface rust if you do not care for your products properly.
6. The best thing you can do to protect the stainless steel is to clean it frequently.

What if there's a sudden drop in gas flow, or a reduced flame height?

Possible Cause 1:

  • Out of gas.
    - Refill your LP tank

Possible Cause 2:

  • Excess flow safety device may have been activated.
    - Turn the control knob to “OFF”, wait 30 seconds and light the outdoor firepit. If flames are still too low reset the excessive flow safety device by turning off the control knob and LP gas tank valve.
    - Disconnect regulator. Turn the burner control knob to “HIGH”. Wait 1 minute. Turn burner control knob off.
    - Reconnect regulator and perform a leak check at tank connection. Turn LP gas tank valve on slowly, wait 30 seconds and then light outdoor fire table.

Does the fire table comes with a gas tubing?

The Fire tables all come with approximately 3 metres of gas tubing. If you need longer tubing, you can buy extra gas tubing from a good DIY store.

Bull FAQs

How do you hook up the side burner?

Note: Use Teflon tape on all threaded connections.

  1. Connect a short double-ended 3/8 female flare gas line to the back of the bbq.
  2. Then connect a 3/8 flare “T” fitting to the gas line.
  3. From that connection, you will have two remaining access points. one for the side burner and one for the incoming gas.
  4. Make your connections and light it up.

How do you light the backburner?

  1. Make sure the gas is on.
  2. Turn the knob slowly but stop before the ignition snaps, when you stop, hold the knob for 7-10 seconds. this allows the gas to flow thru the infrared backburner for 7-10 seconds allowing the gas to migrate to the opposite side of the backburner where the ignition is located.
  3. After doing so proceed to turn the knob to complete the snap.
  4. Once you hear the snap the gas will be ignited.

Does the fire pit have a hole for drainage?

Bull currently does not cut any holes for drainage, but when your plumber hooks up the gas to the burner you have to drill a hole into the cement board in order to get to the burner. So that provides an out for water.

How can I tell if I have a gas leak?

A good test is to mix a bit of water with dish soap. Then with a brush, dab your connections with the soapy water, if you do indeed have a leak you will see your connection start to bubble.

What if the flame in the grill is higher in the back than in the front?

It means it needs some cleaning!

Take the burners out, remove the cotter pins that are behind and beneath the bbq and shake them or air gun them and get all the dirt out of the burners. keep in mind that if your burners are bowed it is time for new ones.

If your grill is brand new, out the box and your running LP gas, then you might have a NG unit.

What if the grill is not getting any gas?

  • Check the line. There is a chance that there is foam at the entrance of your gas line located in the back right corner of the grill.
  • Might have a fouled regulator.
  • There might be a gas leak plugging your regulator for safety.

What if the flame is low?

  • Valve might need replacing.
  • Regulator might be restricting too much gas.

What if fire is coming out of the front of the grill by the knobs?

Burners either need to be cleaned, or there is something disturbing the flow of the gas making the gas travel back towards the valve and with the ignition igniting the gas you are getting fire right by the knobs.

What if we can smell gas when the grill is off?

Check all connections to the grill if there are no leaks then there is a chance that there is actually a leak right underneath the grill.

To check it is easy, get in front of the grill and look at the valves from underneath. There is one screw that holds each valve into place. Tighten each one snuggly, this should solve the problem.

How do I ignite the rear burner?

Due to the British climate, the rear burners can prove to be a little bit tricky to ignite. However, if you turn the knob clockwise until you feel like the ignition is just about to click in, hold it there for 10 seconds or so and then click the ignition. Depending on weather conditions, this may take a few times. If this does not work after more than several attempts, please contact us at info@fornoboutique.co.uk.

Do the free-standing barbecues come with a cover?

Our Bibury, Burford, and Broadway BBQ’s all come with high quality covers. A full range of replacement covers can be found on our website and can be purchased from your nearest Retailer.

How do I use my rotisserie?

To use a rotisserie correctly, you place the meat carefully onto the bar, holding it in place with the pronged fittings. You then switch on the rear burner and engage the rotisserie bar into the rotisserie motor then switch the motor on. This turns the rotisserie automatically. Make sure the piece of meat is not too wide for the cooking area once the lid is down as this will cause rotating issues.

What are the benefits of infrared burners?

Faster grilling time - Infrared burners heat up very quickly so you can get grilling in no time. Infrared heat is not affected by wind and outdoor influences, and therefore when the heat rays hit your meat you get the full energy.

How do I clean my stainless-steel cooking grate?

It is best to burn off as much of the food residue straight after cooking, and once you have switched off the BBQ and it is cooling down brush the grates with a strong wire brush. If the grates are still not clean enough, once they cool down take them out and wash in warm soapy water and use a metal brillo pad to get off the heavy residue.

How do I remove scratches from stainless steel?

Copper Cleaner can be used to gently buff stainless steel. Minor scratches can also be concealed with the use of a stainless-steel polish.

What size gas bottle do I need so that it sits inside the BBQ?

You can hold a 5kg gas bottle within the cupboard of our freestanding grills, anything larger will have to stand outside BBQ. However, within the Cirencester range, we have a gas bottle cabinet available to purchase, that stores and hides up to a 13kg gas bottle.

How much weight can the rotisserie hold?

20lb maximum weight limit, but make sure that the BBQ lid can be closed if you choose to cook a big piece of meat.

How long should I preheat my grill for?

You should pre-heat your grill for 10-15 minutes with the lid closed, or, until it reaches around 350 degrees.

How do I use my smoker box?

Remove the grate and place the Smoker Box which is filled with your desired chips on to the frame, then replace the grate and your BBQ is ready to switch on.

Do Whistler products come with a gas regulator?

Yes, all of our BBQ models come with a propane push-fit gas regulator and hose.

Will I get a problem with pressure drop on a long run of the gas pipe if I put the double door unit between the grill and the 90 degree storage unit?

You should only ever have pressure drop issues if you're low on gas. Putting a unit between the grill and where you're storing the gas bottle (in this instance the 90 degree corner unit) should not cause any pressure issues. We provide a long hose alternative to the normal hose so that you can do this, giving you flexibility in the design of your Cirencester Modular Kitchen. (Extra long hose available on request)

Which side of the grills does the gas and electric come out of?

When standing directly infront of a Whistler grill facing the control panel, the gas connection is on the right hand side, whilst the electric is on the left.

Can you design/install outdoor kitchens?

We are only BBQ suppliers, not kitchen manufacturers therefore we do not get involved in the design or installation of outdoor kitchens. We advise you follow our guidelines and health and safety instructions within our Whistler Grills User Manuals. For further information on the design and installation of an outdoor kitchen, we advise you to contact a Kitchen Design company.

Can I connect a Whistler grill to an LPG tank?

Due to our grills being designed to work at the pressure of a standard LPG gas cyclinder, and as far as we are aware LPG tanks run at a lower pressure, we do not recommend that our customers connect a Whistler grill to this.

Do you have natural gas models?

We don't currently do a natural gas grill, nor do our models connect/convert to mains gas. However, we are in the process of certifying (CE Certificate) natural gas specific models ready to launch in 2022!

Hamaca FAQs

What is the best size of Hammock should I buy?

It all depends on who and how many will use the hammock at the same time but in general, the bigger the better!

Single hammocks pack up small and are very portable. Close to the portability of travel hammocks.

Double hammocks are a bit bigger, not so portable, but if you plan to keep the hammock at home or in the garden, who cares.

What should I buy together with my hammock?

You need to decide where you will hang your hammock.

  • If you will hang it between two trees, then get some tree bands.
  • If you will hang it indoors and don’t have room for a hammock stand, then you will need some wall fixings.
  • If you want to have your hammock indoors or out, but don’t have any walls or trees, then you should buy a hammock stand.

When can I expect delivery?

Generally around 4-7 working days.

Once your order is shipped, we will send you a tracking code and you will be able to track the shipment online.

Generally smaller items go to DHL service points for collection at your convenience, and larger items are delivered to your door.

Remote areas might take an extra 1-2 days. You will know if this is the usual case for the area you live in.

Hanging chairs or Hammocks?

Hanging chairs are great. If you prefer to sit than lay, then a hanging chair is for you. Hanging chairs generally only fit one person comfortably, although they are good for reading stories to small kids.

The other benefit of hanging chairs is that they have a smaller footprint. You only need about 120 x 120cm floor space to comfortably have a hanging chair indoors. For a hammock it is about 350cm x 140cm.

Is it good to sleep in a hammock?

The short answer is YES!, and here are some sources to back that up…

Gardeco FAQs

What are the types of chimeneas to choose from?

You have three basic types of chimenea or fire bowl to choose from - a fire clay chimenea, a cast iron chimenea (including a mix of cast iron and steel) or a steel chimenea or fire bowl. Although designed for a similar purpose, the three types are made from different materials and have different performance characteristics.

What are the sizes to choose from?

All three types of chimeneas or fire bowls (clay, cast iron or steel) are available in several different sizes, from very small to very large. The weight, cost and heat output increases with size. The larger models burn more fuel and will heat a larger area. If you have a large patio then a larger chimenea or fire bowl will is more suitable. For a really large patio then consider two chimeneas, one at either end.

Do they need assembling?

Clay chimeneas need no assembling, they come finished and ready to use. Place the stand on your patio, lift the chimenea carefully into position and place sand or lava stones in the bottom. It’s ready. More assembling is necessary for cast iron and steel chimeneas, which are supplied as components in a carton and must be assembled before use.

We have young children and pets at home, which is the safest?

Chimeneas and fire bowls are safe provided you follow the operating instructions and apply common sense. They are real fires and will burn hands if touched when lit. If you have young children and pets then make sure they do not come into contact with the chimenea or fire bowl while in use. You can buy a chimenea guard which will keep curious fingers and noses away from the hot surface. The surface of a clay chimenea is less likely to become so hot it will give a serious burn. However, the surface of a cast iron or steel model is hotter and will cause an immediate burn if touched while in use.

Which one gives out the most heat?

The heat output depends on the size of the chimenea or fire bowl and the amount of fuel used. Essentially, the more fuel is used, the bigger the fire, the more heat output. More fuel is more heat. From a performance point of view Mexican fire clay models have the best combustion characteristics and will burn fuel to fine ash with almost no residue.

What fuel should I use?

Wood burns with air from above but charcoal or coal needs air from underneath to burn properly. Mexican and clay chimeneas work best with wood for that reason, although we have used them with charcoal successfully too. Do not use coal on a clay chimenea. Coal burns very hot and might damage the chimenea.

Cast iron and steel chimeneas or fire bowls will burn wood, charcoal and coal, but remember if the chimenea becomes very hot then the paint will burn off. The heat-resistant paint used is resistant up to 600 degrees celsius, but it is not fireproof – fireproof paint does not exist. If the paint burns off, the surface will rust.

Which needs the most maintenance?

For all three types, little maintenance is required apart from removing ash and occasional repainting if the surface paint is damaged or burnt. Clay chimeneas can be repainted with ordinary emulsion paint and cast iron or steel with heat-resisting stove paint. Clay chimeneas require the least maintenance.

Which type of chimenea can I leave outside all year round?

The short answer is to protect all chimeneas from the UK weather - we recommend you buy a cover for all three types of chimeneas. Cast iron or steel will rust very quickly if left outside and clay will become waterlogged if left in the rain because there are no drainage holes. Similarly, your chimenea will last longer if you bring it in for the winter. Never use a waterlogged clay chimenea, wait until it is completely dry.

Which type chimenea is easier to lift?

Medium-sized clay and cast iron chimeneas weigh upwards of 35 kgs, and larger models upwards of 50 kgs. Chimeneas have an awkward shape and are too heavy for a comfortable lift! Steel chimeneas weigh half as much, about 15 kgs and are especially suitable for anyone who finds lifting is a problem.

Which type of chimenea will last the longest?

The cast-iron model lasts the longest but it also depends on how a chimenea is treated/mistreated and maintained.

Which type is best for cooking?

Modern chimeneas are primarily designed for space heating, although there are removable bbq grills available for the fire clay types and swing out bbq grills for the cast iron and steel. We suggest a chimenea is at best used for occasional barbecuing, for the serious outdoor chef nothing is better than a proper bbq.

Why does my cast iron chimenea/firepit rust

The cast iron chimenea rusts when it is exposed to certain elements eg. rain/frost, and when the paint burns off.

In an indirect-fired wood oven, combustion takes place in a separate chamber from the one where food is cooked isolating the two compartments between them.

What is a direct oven?

The Fontana ovens, that exploit the direct heat technique, are highly specialised ovens resulting in very short lighting and pre-heating times, leading to a reduction in wood consumption.

Wood-fired ovens enhance the flavours of dishes, allowing for countless preparations, making them not just an oven for traditional Italian pizza, but a true ally for cooking at home.

How to clean your Fontana Oven?

Usually, the Fontana Ovens have side and back panels of the cooking chamber that can be easily removed to allow a perfect cleaning even in the dishwasher.
